HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY
HCH is one of the oldest and most comprehensive state-approved hypnosis training institutes in California.

     HCH is located in the San Francisco Bay Area in Lafayette on site of the Transformational Therapy Center.

     The school is situated in a peaceful wooded hillside with a sweeping view of the Contra Costa County hills.  Our classrooms are fully carpeted and warmly furnished.  Sliding glass doors open to balconies which overlook the natural environment.  Deer, squirrels, and birds are commonly seen from the classroom windows.

     On the premises we offer an extensive hypnosis library for browsing and books, tapes, and hypnosis tools are for sale in the HCH Book Store.

     HCH provides tea for the trainings and a refrigerator and microwave oven are available for student use during breaks and meal time.

     Our training center is within walking distance of the Lafayette BART station, the Lafayette Reservoir, and downtown restaurants.  A motel is conveniently located next door for out of town students.

     HCH was founded as The Hypnosis Clearing House by Dr. Freda Morris.  Holly Holmes-Meredith, a licensed Marriage Family Therapist, became the owner and Clinical Director of the school in 1986.

     HCH enjoys status as a postsecondary school in California as approved by the California Council for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education.

     The training at HCH is comprehensive and multi-dimensional.  It's designed to insure systematic integration of Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, Neuro-linguistic Programming and many transpersonal modalities of healing through altered states of consciousness.

     As a result, HCH graduates are insured competency in a wide variety of practical and effective therapeutic skills.  One of the most significant elements in the HCH training is the emphasis on students personally experiencing the hypnotic process as hypnotees through demonstrations and partner practicum.  Because graduates understand the transformational effects of hypnosis from the inside out, they are better prepared to empower clients to move through their own inner territories.

     Each HCH instructor follows the path of empowerment and teaches the importance of supporting clients in healing themselves -- demystifying hypnosis as a power or force the hypnotherapist uses on someone else.  This approach minimizes co-dependencies between the client and therapist and helps clients more consciously experience being the creative healing force in their own lives.

     Through the HCH learning approach utilizing hypnotic consciousness and the on-going supervised practice of techniques, students are also trained in the art of doing hypnotherapy.  It is in this realm of the art of hypnotherapy that a state of grace and healing takes place for the client.

     Our hypnotherapy training supports graduates in meeting both personal and professional goals.  Many begin a new satisfying career as a hypnotherapist and many combine the newly acquired hypnotherapy skills with a current helping profession.  All HCH students experience the benefits of profound accelerated personal growth and transformation

     HCH students have ranged from 18 to 86 years of age and come from varied backgrounds: high school graduates to PHDs, students, homemakers, business professionals, educators, health care workers, dentists and doctors, psychologists, counselors, psychiatrists, massage practitioners, musicians, scientists and clergy. All are pursuing personal growth and more effective and rewarding ways to be in their own lives and in the world.

DIRECTIONS

From Oakland: Take highway 24 East, through the tunnel. Pass town of Orinda. Take Mt. Diablo Blvd./Acalanes exit. Go through stop lights onto Mt. Diablo Blvd. Pass the Lafayette Reservoir on the right. Drive approximately 1/4 mile further. Pass the Veterans Memorial Building(on left) and be prepared to make the very next left turn up the hill. (There is a center turn lane.) *(A restaurant called India Palace is located up this hill and is very visible from Mt. Diablo Blvd.) As you drive up the road you'll veer right two times. Our building is the first building on the right. It's nestled in the trees on the right side of the parking area.

From Walnut Creek: Take highway 24 West. Take Central Lafayette exit. At the light, turn left on to Deerhill Rd. When Deerhill ends (past the BART station), turn left onto Happy Valley Rd. Drive one block. Turn right onto Mt. Diablo Blvd. ++Drive through one light (Dolores/Mt. View), and one long city block from this intersection, then turn right when you see the India Palace Restaurant up the hill. Proceed from * above.

By BART: Exit at Lafayette BART station. Walk one block south to Mt. Diablo Blvd. Walk right on Mt. Diablo Blvd. And continue from ++ on above directions. Walking from BART will take 15 to 20 minutes.
