ASTROLOGY BASICS, January 14, 15, 2012, April 28-29, 2012
10AM to 5PM (12hrs), Cost $250.00.
OK, so you know your sun sign. Now what? Did you know that there are 9 other "planets" or energies that make up you birth chart? These planets are found in any of 12 different signs, in twelve different houses. Together with the sun, they make up the basics of your natal chart. Your natal chart is a reflection of yourself and your life path, the energies you have to work with in this life and the challenges along the way. In this two day class you will learn the language of astrology: planets, signs, houses, aspects, and the ascendent; and how to put it all together to read a chart. You will gain insights into your own chart as well as tools for interpreting any chart. This class will prepare you for all Astrology II classes offered through HCH.
The class format is both didactic and interactive/experiential. Prepare to come learn and have fun! The instructor will provide free natal charts for all class members. See Obtaining Your Free Charts below.
ASTROLOGY II Classes, All class times are 10AM to 5PM (6hrs), Cost $125.00.
For the following classes it is expected that participants will have at least a basic understanding of planets, signs, houses and aspects, and how to read an astrology chart. If you do not have this knowledge, the Astrology Basics class at HCH is highly recommended before taking these classes.
Transits and Secondary Progressions, November 6, 2011
We all wonder what the future might hold for us. In this class we will explore the energies of the planets as they move through the sky and where, when and how those energies might manifest themselves in our lives over the next year. We will additionally learn about the system of secondary progressions in which a template for trends throughout our life is set down in the first few months after birth. By understanding both transits and progressions we can prepare ourselves to make the best use of the energies that may be available to us, as well as more easily turn our challenges into learning and growth.

The Solar Return Chart, January 29, 2012
Every year when the sun exactly conjuncts the natal position of your sun, the chart derived at that moment is your solar return chart for the year. This chart will indicate trends and issues and emphases for the upcoming year. In this class we will examine our past year solar return chart, and our upcoming year solar return chart.

Carreer and Money in the Natal Chart, February 26, 2012

Your children, siblings, parents and family of origin can all be found in your natal chart, along with the challenges and oportunities inherent in these relationships! In this class we will explore our family relationships as reflected in our natal chart. The instructor will provide free natal charts to those class members who request them. Relationships in the Natal Chart, May 27, 2012
In this class we will futher examine the natal chart in regards to our romantic relationships. We will explore such questions as how do I present myself in relationship, what are my relationship needs and challenges, who am I likely to be attracted to and how can I best engage in fulfilling relationships? Your natal chart is the first place to look regarding relationship questions and potentials. The instructor will provide free natal charts to those class members who request them. Relationship Synastry, June 24, 2012
We will learn the art of comparing the natal charts of two individuals to understand both their compatabilities and their challenges. This method can be used both for romantic partners and other relationships. If you want to explore in class your relationship with another person, you will need to provide the birth information for yourself and the other person (with their permission) as described in Obtaining Your Free Charts below. This can be a fun class for couples to come to together!
Relationships - the Composite Chart , July 22, 2012
One way of exploring relationships is through the composite chart. This is a chart which is constructed using the midpoints between the planets in the two natal charts. This chart represents the relationship itself. By examining this chart we can further explore the strengths and challenges in a relationship. Intermediate Natal Chart Interpretation, August 26, 2012
Beyond the basics! This is a discussion/seminar style class. Specific topics for the class will depend on the questions students bring in. Each student is asked to bring 3 questions to explore regarding the natal chart. They can be quite specific (i.e. how do I interpret 6th house mercury in Virgo opposite 12th house jupiter in Pisces?) or more general (i.e. tell me again the significance of Pluto(?)). This is a good opportunity for participants to learn both by applying their knowledge to the questions of others and by exploring their own question(s) with the group. Each student will have at least one question addressed by the class.
Intermediate Predictive Astrology, September 30, 2012
We will once again explore the energies active now and in our future as represented by transits and secondary progressions. This is a discussion/seminar style class. Specific topics for the class will depend on the questions students bring in. Each student is asked to bring 3 questions to explore regarding transits and secondary progressions. They can be quite specific (i.e my progressed moon is conjuncting my natal Jupiter. What does that mean?) or more general (What is the difference between progressions and transits?). This is a good opportunity for participants to learn both by applying their knowledge to the questions of others and by exploring their own question(s) with the group. Each student will have at least one question addressed by the class.
OBTAINING YOUR FREE CHARTS
To obtain charts for your class, please provide the following information to the instructor as soon as possible: your first name, your date (month, day, year), place (city, state, country) and time of birth (be sure to include am or pm). All information will be kept strictly confidential. Also please note the class you are taking. This information can be e-mailed to the instructor at: catherine@youngastrology.com. The instructor must receive this information at least 48 hours prior to the first day of class to ensure that charts will be available for the student. Sooner is better. Feel free to call or e-mail the instructor with any questions.

Catherine Young has long held a fascination with Astrology. She started studying in her teens and was soon drawing up charts (back in the day when drawing up a chart required excessive calculation!) and doing interpretations for family and friends. In addition to three decades of extensive self study, Catherine has trained over the past several years with professional astrologer and author Rio Olesky.
Catherine has also worked as a therapist for over 15 years. She enjoys working with people and is very client centered and collaborative in her work. In the course of her career as a therapist she has been called upon to provide numerous trainings to both public and private agencies and has discovered that teaching is one of the joys in her life. Catherine is very excited to be applying her love of teaching to the field of astrology and is looking forward to sharing the wonderful and fascinating world of astrology with others!
Catherine Young, MFT, CHT has a private therapy practice in Sonoma, CA, working with both adults and children. Catherine is also available for astrology readings.
